Vijayawada: A Clean- Green Run was organised at Sunday dawn by holistic and environmental health promoting group, AWARA in the Greenfields trail adjoining the Krishna river. Scores of NDRF troops, several college and school students from Westin, Aravinda and Delhi Public School participated in the run enthusiastically. NDRF officer Sateesh Kumar, who flagged off the event, appreciated AWARA for organising the running event every year for the last eight years. Another officer Robin congratulated the participants, some of them secured government jobs.

Prof Ajay Katragadda, who conceived the programme almost a decade ago, said such small successes make huge changes in the lives of kids in times when the society is barely coping to keep children and teenagers away from drugs and diversions.

He lauded the services of NDRF troops stating the troops render service to the nation during the disasters. Run winners, Pankaj Kumar from AWARA, Prabin Niraula, a student from Westin, Janakiram from Aravinda School and Vaishnavi from Delhi Public School, claimed the top places and given prizes. After the run, the youngsters relaxed and took a water safety and swimming lessons organised by AWARA Swimming Academy.
