Vijayawada: Clean India target achieved before deadline
Vijayawada: BJ Prasanna, State Director, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) said that it was a happy moment for the NYKS to announce that the Clean India campaign to collect single use plastic has been successful even well before the deadline.
NYKS has been conducting the Clean India campaign throughout the country covering 744 districts, six lakh villages with the involvement of more than 2.5 lakh youth clubs on the occasion of Azadi Ka Amruth Mahotsav, 75 years of India's Independence celebrations, Prasanna said in statement issued on Sunday.
He said that the target has been set to collect 75 lakh kg of plastic by October 31. The target was achieved on Sunday with collection of more than 76 lakh kg from all over India. He expressed heart-felt thanks to all the stakeholders in this historic moment and also to the departmental heads and staff for their continuous monitoring, suggestions and guidance.
In the 14 districts of Andhra Pradesh including Yanam, the target of 3.55 lakh kg of plastic collection has surpassed.
He praised the role played by the national youth volunteers, NSS volunteers, youth clubs, NGOs, ASHA and Anganwadi workers, authorities at the State, district, village, municipalities and municipal corporations.
Also, the role played by the district collectors, joint collectors, ZP CEOs, youth services department, NSS programme officers in achieving this proud moment with their coordination is highly appreciable and the task will continue till October 31.
Prasanna appealed for the same coordination and convergence from all departments and agencies.
