Vijayawada: Counselling for admissions into IIIT courses begins
Vijayawada: Counselling for the admissions into IIIT courses in two campuses at Nuzvid and RK Valley campus, Srikakulam on Monday.
The counselling will be held till January 11. Students, who secured ranks in the entrance test attended the counselling and chosen the campuses for the academic year 2021.
Education Minister Audimulapu Suresh visited Nuzvid and inaugurated the counselling process.
Addressing the gather on the occasion, Suresh said the government allocated Rs 200 crore for development of infrastructure facilities in the IIIT campuses in the State.
The Education Minister added that the previous Telugu Desam government had neglected the development of IIIT campuses in the State. He said former Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy had set up the IIITs in the State to impart quality technical education to the rural children.
He said Dr YS Rajasekhar Reddy inaugurated the IIIT campus in Nuzvid in 2008 and later two more campuses were set up in 2016 in Ongole and Srikakulam.
The Minister handed over the admission papers to the students P Venkata Sivasankar and Dasari Abhishek on the occasion. He suggested the students to develop the communication skills while continuing the education.
He appealed to the parents to study how the IIIT campuses developed in the present government and during the previous TDP government.
Minister Suresh said the State government is implementing Jagananna Vidya Deevena and Jagananna Vasati Deevena promote education in the State. He said the State government would provide food, accommodation, books and computer to the students of the IIIT and appealed to the latter to avail the benefits extended by the government and reach to the higher positions.
He informed that the government conducted the entrance test for the admissions into the IIIT institutions in the State.
Nuzvid MLA Meka Pratap Apparao said former CM Dr Y S Rajasekhar Reddy had laid the foundation for construction of the IIIT in Nuzvid and five times MLA MR Apparao had donated 125 acres land.
IIIT Chancellor K V Reddy said the counselling will continue till January 11 and the classes would start on January 18.
Vice-Chancellor Hemachandra Reddy, directors of the IIITs located in Nuzvid, Ongole and Srikakulam and other officials attended the programme in Nuzvid.
