Vijayawada: Med college, super specialty hospital in each LS seat
Vijayawada: The state government filled 9,700 posts of doctors and other health personnel in order to strengthen the health services in the state. "The government is according to top priority to health and education sectors. An amount of Rs 16,000 crore was sanctioned to medical and health department this financial year," said health minister Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas (Nani).
Alla Nani along with the Nuzvid MLA Meka Pratap Appa Rao performed ground-breaking ceremony for construction of 200-bed hospital building at a cost of Rs.21.15 crore in Nuzvid on Saturday. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the minister said about 400 to 500 patients visit the Nuzvid area hospital for the treatment a day. The medical services in the hospital will be improved with the construction of new hospital building with 14 wards.
He said the state government will construct one medical college along with super specialty hospital in each parliamentary constituency in the state adding five multi-specialty service hospitals will be constructed at a cost of Rs 50 to 60 crore in five ITDA areas in the state.
He said the government had decided to provide medical services to the white ration card holders under Aarogyasri scheme in Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Chennai cities. Referring to Krishna district, he said 640 village clinics will be formed in the district to render medical services to the rural population.
The health minister inaugurated the 20-bed dialysis centre in Nuzvid on the occasion. He spoke to patients and enquired about the services provided at the hospital. A dialysis patient, Haj Khan, said he was grateful to the government for sanctioning Rs 10,000 pension to patients who needed dialysis.
Nuzvid MLA Meka Pratap Appa Rao, who presided over the meeting, said with the help of donors 20-bed dialysis centre was set up in Nuzvid to treat the kidney patients. Joint collector K Mohan Kumar, district health and medical officer Dr Suhasini and the officials from medical, health, revenue and other departments attended the inauguration.
