Vijayawada: Private school teachers seek financial aid from government

Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh Private Schools Association (APPSA) has sought the support of the state government in view of the deep crises being faced by private schools due to Covid-19.

The Association leaders have demanded the government to pay Rs 10,000 financial assistance to the teachers working in private schools as the schools closed for seven months and many teachers are not getting salaries. APPSA convened a meeting in Poranki on Sunday and discussed the problems being faced by the schools and the teachers.

Addressing the gathering, CPM state secretary P Madhu said that due to coronavirus pandemic the private schools were pushed to deep crises and requested the government to extend support to the teachers.

He said that the state government implemented many schemes to strengthen the government schools and reminded that it is the responsibility of the government to support the teachers working in private schools also as the private schools are in deep trouble. He alleged the government authorities are harassing the private managements and demanded to stop harassing.

The CPM leader recalled that during the last ten years the population has increased in Vijayawada but no new government school was established. He further said 36 lakh students are studying in 15,000 private schools in the State. Former MLC Chigurupati Vara Prasad, APPSA honorary president V Sundar Ram and others attended the meeting.
