Vijayawada: Viswa Brahmins demand Rs 100 crore for their uplift

Vijayawada: The State government was urged to allocate Rs 100 crore to the Viswa Brahmin Corporation to help the Viswa Brahmins financially.

Announcing the election schedule of the Viswa Brahmin Sangham during the 9th state-level conference which would be held in February, former director of Andhra Pradesh Viswa Brahmin Sangham Godi Narasimhachari demanded that the government allocate Rs 100 crore keeping in view the population of Viswa Brahmins. He said that the Sangham was formed way back in 1973. He said that the state government has been helping various craftsmen and it should also help the Kanchara (bronze smiths), potters, carpenters and goldsmiths who are form the Viswa Brahmins.

The former director said that there are 20 lakh Viswa Brahmins in the State and the government was wrongly informed that they were only 7 lakh. He said that they would conduct survey in the state soon to provide exact number to the State government.

He complimented the government for establishing the Viswa Brahmin Corporation.

The chairman of the reception committee for the 9th conference Chevuri Rama Swamy said that all the Viswa Brahmins would unite for putting forward their demands to the government. He suggested the formation of Vira Brahmendra Swamy district as part of the formation of new districts in Kadapa. Viswakarma joint action committee chairman Pavuluri Hanumanta Rao, election returning officer Dhanalakota Kaleswara Rao, Darla Papaiah, Srinivasa Murthy, A Rama Rao, and members from all the 13 districts were present.
