87,527 beneficiaries avail Jagananna Thodu in port city
Visakhapatnam: In a step to uplift the poor, the state government has doled out a number of welfare schemes, said Tourism Minister Muttamsetti Srinivasa Rao.
Speaking at the launch of Jagananna Thodu scheme here on Wednesday, the Minister exhorted the beneficiaries to avail the scheme.
Keeping the small traders in view, Srinivasa Rao said Jagananna Thodu scheme was launched for their benefit. Even those operating fruit shops, mobile tiffin centres, pan shops and essential supplies outlets will benefit out of the scheme, the Minister mentioned. A cheque to the tune of Rs 87.53 crore was given to 87,527 beneficiaries in Visakhapatnam.
Speaking on the occasion, District Collector V Vinay Chand said 467 Etikoppaka artisans would benefit under the scheme. Similarly, a number of vegetable vendors form a part of the beneficiaries. Municipal Commissioner G Srijana, Joint Collector YSRCP leader KK Raju, MLA Tippala Nagi Reddy, among others took part in the programme.
