Bhogapuram airport will soon be readied: Vijayasai Reddy
Visakhapatnam: Very soon, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will lay the foundation for Bhogapuram Greenfield Airport, said YSRCP Rajya Sabha member V Vijayasai Reddy here on Friday.
Addressing the media, the MP reiterated that the current airport will be handed over to the navy once the commercial operation commences at Bhogapuram airport. Expressing concern over how a section of the media is trying to propagate a 'false campaign' against handing over of the airport to the Navy, Vijayasai Reddy appealed to a few media representatives not to mislead the public by reporting 'unethically'.
Clarifying further on the airport, the MP said the current airport will be handed over to the Navy within 30 days from the date of commencement of the commercial operations at Bhogapuram airport. The decision towards this was taken in the presence of the civil aviation minister and secretary, Airports Authority of India chairman, he recalled. Elaborating on Polavaram project, the MP said works will be accelerated as the project is scheduled to be wrapped up by December, 2021.
Terming the conduct of State Election Commission (SEC) as biased, Vijayasai Reddy pointed out that the State Election Commissioner (SEC) Nimmagadda Ramesh Kumar is playing to the tunes of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu and thus rushing for the local body elections, despite the prevalence of Covid pandemic. Taking a dig at the SEC, the MP opined that he might likely join the TDP as working president post his retirement. Agriculture minister K Kannababu, tourism minister M Srinivasa Rao and MP MVV Satyanarayana, among others were present.
