Visakhapatnam: A rare invite for class X student

Visakhapatnam: A class-X student of Andhra Pradesh Social Welfare Residential School (APSWR) – Centre of Excellence, Kommadi, K L S Priya Varshini has been invited to address and deliver a speech virtually on a global platform by the Sweden Embassy on December 7.

Organised by the Embassy of Sweden in India in partnership with the Atal Innovation Mission, the student got a rare opportunity to deliver talk at the Sweden-India Nobel Memorial Week 2020.

The virtual programme will present 'She Stem: Women Leading the Way' – a celebration of women scientists and entrepreneurs in Sweden and India. It aims at bringing women on to a platform and honouring them for bringing cutting-edge science and technology to global sustainability efforts.

Priya Varshini will be sharing the virtual platform along with CEO and founder of Globhe Helena Samsioe, CEO and founder of Bell Labs Sanskriti Dawle, Director General at Centre for Science and Environment and an awardee of the World Water Prize Sunita Narain and Deputy Science Director at Stockholm Resilience Centre and member of the Swedish Royal Academy of Science, among others.

Earlier, one of Priya Varshini's Agricultural robot projects was ranked among the top 100 innovations in the national-level competition. She was among 25 students from ATLs shortlisted candidates to represent India at the SIRIUS centre in Sochi, Russia where she worked with Russian students and mentors to design a solution for challenges faced by both India and Russia.

Principal of the school S Rupavathi and Physical Science teacher and ATL in-charge of the school T Rambabu appreciated the student for the achievement.
