Visakhapatnam: Special awards presented at NSTL Foundation Day fete
Visakhapatnam: Naval Science and Technological Laboratory (NSTL) celebrated its 51st Foundation Day (Lab Raising Day) here on Friday.
Established on August 20, 1969, NSTL has grown multifold and has made significant contributions to the defence research and development and is recognised as one of the premier labs of the DRDO engaged in the development of underwater weapons and systems.
Chairman of the DRDO G Satheesh Reddy participated as chief guest through virtual conference. He appreciated the team members who went to Ulan and succeeded in heavy weight torpedo trials. He assured that utmost importance is being given to address the issues of the employees.
Project Director of SBC Vice Admiral Kalidoss Srinivas and Director General Naval Systems and Materials, DRDO Dr Samir V Kamat attended as guests of honour.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Admiral Kalidoss Srinivas recalled the 50-year-long journey of NSTL and its association with the Indian Navy. He lauded the efforts of the NSTL for becoming the one-stop solution in research and development of underwater weapons and marine vessels.
Outstanding Scientist and Director of NSTL OR Nandagopan shared various achievements of the lab over the past one year.
Technology Group Award – 2019, Scientist of the Year – 2019 and special awards were presented to some of the personnel on the occasion.
