Visakhapatnam: US Consulate officials visit GITAM

Visakhapatnam: A team of delegates from the US Consulate office in Hyderabad visited GITAM Deemed to be University here on Friday.

They interacted with the institution's president M Sribharat and Vice-Chancellor K Sivaramakrishna.

Speaking to the US Consulate officials, Sribharat explained the growth and the research potentials of the institution's faculty. He informed that the institution has over 23,000 regular full-time students, about 1,200 research scholars and over 90,852 students in distance mode hailing from different parts of the country.

GITAM's president expressed his interest to associate with reputed US universities to strengthen the intellectual base. He informed that the institution is building an entrepreneurial ecosystem in association with North-eastern University (Boston) to harness their globally renowned expertise in venture development.

The Vice-Chancellor explained the ongoing academic collaborations with the US universities.

US Consulate Public Affairs Officer David Moyer briefed on Fulbright scholarships and educational community initiatives. He hoped that the New Education Policy (NEP) will strengthen the India-US academic relations in the coming years.

GITAM School of Gandhian Studies in-charge director and winner of the Fulbright Alumni Award for the year 2019-20 B Nalini participated in the programme.
