Focus on Pattana Pragathi: Minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao

Warangal: It's going to be a tough task for the newly elected as they have to work together to change the face of their municipalities, Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao said. Speaking at an awareness meeting on the Pattana Pragathi for the municipal bodies and officials here on Thursday, he said that emphasis should be on keeping towns clean and green. Stating that people's participation is key to the success of any programme, he directed the civic bodies and officials to ensure involvement of public through committees.

The Minister told the officials to ensure dust bins in all streets and slap penalty on those, who discard garbage in public places. He told the officials to identify place to accommodate the petty vendors. Referring to the elected representatives of the municipalities, he appealed to them to work together irrespective of their party affiliations.

Warangal Rural District Collector M Haritha told the civic bodies to procure auto trolley and tractors based on their requirement. "The Special Officers and the ward members need to develop a rapport so that they could understand and resolve the problems in each ward. They have to undertake field visits along with the ward committee members to identify the works," Haritha said. She said that defunct wells and borewells should be filled immediately.

"Give impetus on sanitation, sludge treatment, dump yards etc. Public toilets have to be constructed besides installing open gyms during the 20-day Pattana Pragathi, starting from February 24," the Collector said. MLAs Peddi Sudarshan Reddy, Challa Dharma Reddy, Additional Collector Mahender Reddy and elected representatives of the municipalities were among others present.
