Warangal: Daily drinking water supply from February

Warangal: The denizens in the Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) limit to get drinking water supply every day, Minister for Panchayat Raj Errabelli Dayakar Rao said. The Minister, who conducted a review meeting here on Sunday, told the GWMC officials to expedite the ongoing works.

He instructed the officials to focus on all the internal roads in 58 Divisions of the Corporation, including streetlights, drainage and sanitation works. "Make use of the funds released under Pattana Pragathi provided by the State Government every month," the Minister said.

Stating that the government had sanctioned Rs 59 crore, he instructed the officials to speed up the repair of roads and nalahs immediately. "Put the contractors in the blacklist if they show any laxity in carrying the works," Errabelli told the officials.

Emphasising the need for providing drinking water under Mission Bhagiratha to all the households in the city from February, the Minister told the officials to resolve the issues with the help of administration. When the civic officials told him that they have only 45 per cent of staff against the sanctioned posts, the minister said that necessary action would be taken to fill the vacant posts. Referring to the double bedroom houses, the minister said that efforts were on to inaugurate them in February. The beneficiaries will be selected through a draw of lots, so that not giving any room for the controversy, he said.

"R1, R2, R3 and R4 package works under Smart roads should be completed by January end. The officials also need to focus on proposed four welcome arches on roads leading to Warangal city," the Minister said. In all, the city should be spruced up before February, he added.

Government Chief Whip D Vinay Bhaskar, Mayor Gunda Prakash Rao, legislators Nannapuneni Narender, Aroori Ramesh, Challa Dharma Reddy, Basavaraj Saraiah, Urban District Collector Rajeev Gandhi Hanumanthu, Municipal Commissioner Pamela Satpathy and Superintending Engineer Vidyasagar were among others present.
