Warangal: Leaders jump into poll campaign

Warangal: With prestige at stake in the outcome of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections, almost all the prominent leaders, MPs, legislators and other people's representatives irrespective of the party lines from erstwhile Warangal district descended on the capital to campaign for their parties.

As soon as the State Election Commission has announced the elections to the GHMC, the ruling TRS leadership summoned its leaders including both the Ministers – Errabelli Dayakar Rao and Satyavathi Rathod, and Government Chief Whip D Vinay Bhaskar, and three MPs –

Pasunuri Dayakar, Banda Prakash and Maloth Kavitha, nine MLAs and seven MLCs and entrusted with the duty of bolstering the campaign division-wise. This apart, the chairpersons of various corporations were also told to campaign in the GHMC elections.

Satyavathi Rathod, who was to look after Chilka Nagar Division, has in fact one among the 10 star campaigners appointed by the TRS leadership. On the other hand, Errabelli is already spearheading the TRS campaign in Meerpet Division. Vinay Bhaskar, who is in-charge of Allwyn Colony Division has also started campaigning for the TRS candidate. Warangal District Congress Committee President Naini Rajender Reddy and All India Mahila Congress General Secretary and Mulugu MLA Danasari Anasuya alias Seethakka were among others, who left for Hyderabad to support their party candidates.

The BJP leaders, who are on cloud 9 ever since they won Dubbaka Assembly by-poll wresting from the TRS have also landed in Hyderabad. Senior leaders Gujjula Premender Reddy, Revuri Prakash Reddy, Thakkallapally Rajeshwar Rao, Kondeti Sridhar, Rao Padma, Marthineni Dharma Rao, Ch Keerthi Reddy, Enugula Rakesh Reddy and others were also making their presence felt in the GHMC campaign.

Meanwhile, the political activity surrounding the Warangal-Khammam-Nalgonda Graduates Constituency seat has suddenly taken a plunge with announcement of elections to the GHMC.

Telangana Jana Samithi President Prof Kodandaram, sitting MLC of the TRS Palla Rajeshwar Reddy, Left Parties candidate Jayasaradhi Reddy, Teenmar Mallanna and Yuva Telangana nominee Rani Rudrama Reddy, who are in the fray for the seat have now kept their focus on the outcome of the GHMC polls.
