Warangal: Smart city works to pick up pace

Warangal: Smart City works should be completed within the timeframe, Warangal Urban District Collector Rajeev Gandhi Hanumanthu said. The Collector who along with Municipal Commissioner Pamela Satpathy reviewed the progress of works under Smart City Mission here on Tuesday, said that the government had approved 84 work components with an outlay of Rs 2,328 crore as part of Smart City Mission. The government had so far released Rs 138 crore. Of which works worth Rs 55 crore have been completed, he said.

"Work on 12 components with an outlay of Rs 33.85 crore has been completed. Work on another 29 components is in various stages. Tendering process of 11 works is completed and a detailed project report (DPR) for another 14 works is also completed," the Collector informed, directing the officials to come up with DPR for the remaining 18 work components.

Stating that there was no dearth of funds, he expressed dissatisfaction over the progress of works. He told the officials and contractors to speed up the works and complete them within the timeframe. "From here onwards, I will review the progress of works every week. Laxity in works to attract stringent action," the Collector said. Further, he directed the officials to release funds for the works done by the contractors as early as possible. The Collector told the contractors to focus on completing the works before December end. He instructed the officials to commission the 750 KLD capacity sewerage treatment plant (STP) constructed at the MGM Hospital with an outlay of Rs 2.77 crore.

The Collector also reviewed the progress of beautification of Bhadrakali bund promenade phase-II works with an estimated cost of Rs 65 crore.

He also told the officials to focus on bicycle track between Fathima Junction and Subedari, beautification of public garden and upgradation of regional

central library.
