Professor molested estranged wife in Aligarh

Aligarh: A professor, who has given triple talaq to his wife through a WhatsApp message, later allegedly raped her. This incident happened in Aligarh. The 58-year-old accused has been booked under 376, 506 Sections of IPC.

The man, who works as a professor at a university, divorced his wife about a year and a half ago by sending triple talaq message through WhatsApp. The wife said that her husband had given her divorce in 2017 by saying triple talaq in a message.

In the complaint, the wife said that she, along with son and daughter, are staying separately and with the reason to see the kids he often visits them. She said that he had come to their house on August 29, as there were no one, he threatened her with a gun and raped her.

Back in 2017, the victim had staged a protest in front of the Vice-Chancellor of Aligarh university that her husband has done injustice by uttering the triple talaq through WhatsApp message. The wife said she would commit suicide if justice is not done to her.
