12 held for gang-rape of a law student in Jharkhand

Ranchi: The police have arrested 12 accused in a case of gang rape of a law student at Ranchi in Jharkhand on Thursday.

The arrested include Sunil Munda, Kuldeep Oraon, Sunil Oraon, Sandeep Tirkey, Ajay Munda, Rajan Oraon, Naveen Oraon, Aman Oraon, Basant Kachhap, Ravi Oraon, Rohit Oraon and Rishi Oraon.

The police sized car, bike, two magazines, three live bullets, a country-made gun, eight mobile phones from their possession.

According to the police, a 25-year-old law student, along with her friend, was standing on the roadside when some unknown people stopped beside them. The woman was kidnapped at gunpoint and then gang-raped in a brick kiln.

The victim somehow reached Kanke police station and lodged a complaint on the incident. On receiving the information, the police registered a case, formed special teams and arrested all the accused.
