47 year old cook who served students Ganja on the side was arrested by cops

A 47-year-old prepare has decided to make his life extra spicy by peddling drugs on side. For students who stayed out of their college hostels, he would cook food and supply them Narcotics too. Now his drug-addled cooking career has come to an end as he was arrested along with four other peddlers.

Sharath Kumar had among the students made buyers of his dubious goods, who had hired him to cook for them. Of the other four peddlers arrested, one is a pharmacy student who lives at his college hostel and the other three are dropouts from college. A case was registered by KS Design police and Sharath Kumar was taken into custody.

Kumar, a resident of the CK Achhukattu district, says he is an Odisha native. He is said to have come from Odisha to procure marijuana. The other arrested are Vinod Kumar, 28, of Srinagar, Somashekhar, 30, of Phase 1 of JP Nagar, Kumar, 30, of 2nd Stage of Banashankari, and Arghyadeep, 23, who stays at the Banashankari college hostel. Arghyadeep is currently pursuing a Pharmacy degree. At the time of his arrest, he gave the address of the college hostel as his place of residence.

All the five were arrested on Thursday behind Dayananda Sagar College on Pipe Line Road in Kumara Swamy Layout. An informant had tipped the police about the gang. The four were for the key convicted, Sharath Kumar, to procure drugs together. They were all taking the drugs and selling it to the students. Of the five accused, police have seized 2.2 kg of ganja.

We have taken the custody of the main accused. The case is still under preliminary stage of investigations. We suspect that the accused may have influenced the students to try the drug when he went to their place to cook. As he was a source of easy supply, a few of the students became his customers. After getting the drugs in bulk, he would put them into smaller packets and sell those to his clients," said an officer.

The Police suspect that the five are part of an organized racket and more peddlers may be part of the gang. The principal accused will bring the ganja in trains to the area. Police also said it was hard to find out who was buying these suspected drugs from.

"We suspect that their main targets were the students from different states. Arghyadeep has said that he stays in the college hostel as he is pursuing degree in Pharmacy and has many backlogs. We are yet to check if his claim of staying in the college hostel is true," the officer added.

A case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act of 1985 has been registered against the five peddlers.
