Chain snatcher robs a woman in Visakhapatnam
NAD Junction: The chain snatching news has created a flutter in Gopalapatnam. In the incident, the woman sitting in the car was robbed with nearly ten and a half tola gold chains from her neck.
According to the police, A family from the Vuda colony in Pedagantyada has come to a house warming ceremony opposite Mourya theatre in Gopalapatnam on Thursday evening. However, an elderly woman G Varalakshmi stayed back in the car as she was suffering from the knee pains and the remaining family went to the function in the house.
Varalakshmi downed the glasses and was relaxing in the car. The thief who noticed this came walking to her and at a once grabbed the gold chains from her neck and ran towards Gopalapatnam. She tried to resists by holding the chains with her hands, but they broke off, and small pieces remained in her hands. In this struggle, she suffered an injury on her hand.
On receiving the information, the police reached the spot, collected details from the victim and investigating further. The Gopalapatnam crime branch police have speeded up the investigation and found the picture of the accused by examining the CCTV footage from nearby local shops and search is going on to trace him.
