Five peddlers held, 82 kg ganja seized
Hyderabad: Rachakonda police busted an interstate ganja smuggling racket and arrested five accused on Tuesday in this connection. They seized 82 kg of ganja, Rs 30,000 cash, a bike and 7 mobile phones-- all worth Rs 5 lakh-- from the possession of the accused.
According to G Sudheer Babu, Additional Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, on credible information the Special Operation Team of LB Nagar along with Meerpet police conducted a joint operation and nabbed accused P Teja, K Kondal, S Vinod Singh, V Nagarjuna and Ch Chinnabbai who were indulging in procuring ganja from Vishakapatnam and selling the same to the needy customers in and around Hyderabad.
Efforts are on to nab the absconding accused Raju who belongs to Odisha. Police seized 4 travelling bags, 1 gunny bag containing 41 packets and each packet containing 2 kg of ganja all contains 82 kg of ganja. The accused Teja, purchases ganja from the agency areas Chintapalli, Paderu, border villages of Vizag and Odisha at lower rates from Raju and gets the ganja packed in airtight plastic covers and keeps them in travelling bags and illegally transport the same to other States and various agents.
The other accused Chinnabbai and Nagarjuna after collecting the ganja from Raju at Vishakapatnam on Monday boarded a private travel bus and reached Hyderabad on Tuesday and were waiting at the house of Kondal at Badangpet in Meerpet to deliver the stock.
Learning about his arrival, Vinod Singh came to his house to purchase 10 kg ganja and paid Rs 30,000 to them. Vinod Singh after converting the ganja into small plastic sachets of 100 grams, sellit to students in and around areas of Dhoolpet and educational institutions in Hyderabad for earning easy money. Meanwhile police raided the place and apprehended all the five accused.
