Hyderabad: Harassed for dowry, two women commit suicide

Hyderabad: Two women committed suicide due to harassment by their husbands in the city on Wednesday.

In the first incident, a newly married woman committed suicide by hanging herself at her residence in Neredmet. The deceased was identified as Sameena Banu.

According to Malkajgiri police, her family members had filed a complaint alleging that she was being harassed by her husband Sai Charan for dowry because he had lost his job due to lockdown.

Unable to bear the harassment, she committed suicide. A complaint was registered against the husband, who is absconding.

In the second incident, a woman identified as Venkata Laxmi, a resident of KPHB, committed suicide at her maternal house as she was being harassed by her husband Venkatesh for dowry.

As the woman was being harassed by her husband, she left her in-laws house and was residing at her mother's house.

But still the husband Venkatesh was torturing her by visiting her maternal house. As she was being troubled by her husband and unable to bear the agony of her in-laws, she committed suicide. A case was registered against the family and the matter is being investigated.
