Hyderabad: Minor girl raped at orphanage dies
Hyderabad: A 14-year-old girl who was continuously raped by a donor of an orphanage died here on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at Niloufer hospital.
The allegations of raping a minor girl were made on the donor Venu Gopal and a case under sections of the POCSO Act was also booked against him by Bowenpally PS on July 31 and later on it was transferred to Ameenpur PS based on the jurisdiction.
According to police, the girl was admitted to Maruthi orphanage in 2015 at Miyapur by her uncle after her parents died. However, the accused donor who used to frequently visit the orphanage to make donations saw the girl and paid money to the warden and caretaker of the home to let him share a private room with the girl.
However, due to the lockdown which began in March the girl was sent to her uncle's home by the caretaker. The girl usually kept to herself and never spoke anything about the incident, as a result her silent attitude was troubling her relatives and they scolded her for not talking with them. Then the relatives moved her to another cousin Preethi's residence, where Preethi noticed the minor girl having difficulty in walking and suspected that there could be serious issues with her, said the inspector, C. Anjaiah.
He noted, "Preethi then took her to a hospital and it was revealed that she was raped continuously. Then Preethi informed her relatives about it and they all filed a complaint against the orphanage. As the investigations began it was revealed that the accused Venu Gopal had committed the crime. The owner, caretaker and other persons who helped the accused were arrested on August 7th."
The investigation was conducted by Ameenpur police station along with the Women Safety Wing and the Child Welfare Committee of the Telangana government.
During investigation by the women officers, the minor girl revealed that the donor used to sexually violate her after making her drink juice, which was laced with enough sedatives to make her unconscious.
