Ongole: Hired goons arrested in attempt to murder case

Ongole: Prakasam district police arrested six persons on Wednesday in a case of attempt to murder in Kandukur. The incident related to dispute over the maintenance of a church.

Superintendent of Police Siddharth Kaushal explained at a press meet that after a series of violent incidents, a committee for the maintenance of JDBM Church in Kandukur had been formed in 2016. The committee consisted of elders. Pulukuri Victor was one of the leaders of the committee maintaining the Church, while his brother Pulukuri Sukumar was the leader of the opposition group. The two groups clashed once again on the anniversary of the church on February 20, and the secretary of the committee Chadalavada Kondaiah and son of Sukumar, Pulukuri Sujay were involved in the clash.

Following a calsh, Sujay hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Kondaiah by hiring professional killers. His friends, Tatiparthi Ashok Kumar, Darimadugu Sriram, and Chanamala Balaji had, hired Chintam Roop Kumar, Konduri Ramaswamy, Nadendla Bhaskar of Kavali for a contract Rs 2lakh and paid advance of Rs 50,000. The three suspects on February 29 attacked Kondaiah with an iron rod at around 4 pm at the SBI Customer Service Shop in Kandukur. As he fell unconscious, the attackers left him as they thought that he was dead.

The police after painstaking investigation arrested Sujay, Ashok Kumar, Balaji, Ramaswamy, Roop Kumar, and Bhaskar and efforts are on to nab Sriram.
