Nellore: Police crack kidnap case in four hours
Nellore: Sangam police cracked a kidnap case of a minor girl within a short time after she was abducted. Police arrested the truck driver on Wednesday when he tried to escape on the National Highway. The accused was identified as P Subbarayudu.
According to Nellore city DSP Y Harinath Reddy, the minor girl was second daughter to her parents from Singarayakonda town in Prakasam district.
He said that her parents separated due to disputes. Subsequently, mother of the minor girl married another person. But her father started harassing her regularly. Then, she approached her uncle N Mathaiah and asked him to shift her to the grandmother's house in Nellore city.
On May 18, they started from Singarayakonda by walk to reach Nellore. The duo boarded a truck on the way. The truck driver unloaded some material at a firm located in Chandrapadiya village in Vinjamur mandal on the same day and started from there on May 19 morning. When the truck reached Sangam check post, the truck driver asked Mathaiah to bring breakfast in the area. When Mathaiah the relative of the minor started searching for breakfast in the area, at the same time the truck driver fled away from there with the minor girl, said the DSP.
Mathaiah informed the incident to Sangam police who alerted all the check posts in the district. Within four hours, police nabbed the accused on the NH-16 at Sundaraiah Colony area in Nellore city and united the girl with Mathaih.
