Two held for conning people of 3 crore

Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri Special Operations Team (SOT) in a joint operation with Nacharam police on Tuesday arrested two on charges of cheating people under the guise of providing coffee shops in MNC companies. The accused cheated innocent to the tune of Rs 3 crore. Police seized Rs 10 lakh from the possession of the accused.

According to Malkajgiri DCP Uma Maheshwara Sarma, on reliable information they arrested two persons G Srinivasulu (55) and Asha Kiran. Srinivasulu worked as a lecturer at Kakatiya PG College at Khammam and Malaysia's Stamford College.

While he was staying in Malaysia, he came in contact with a client who was into import export business. The client later contacted Srinivasulu and asked him to provide rice from Miryalaguda, Nalgonda and other places since there is huge demand for rice in Malaysia and he can earn lakhs of rupees. Later, he contacted rice mill owners and procured rice in bulk quantities through import export companies.

When he started to earn profits, he collected lakhs of rupees from his friends and invested money into the business and later incurred heavy loss. When the investors started mounting pressure on him to clear his debts, he contacted his friend Tara, a resident of Banjara Hills and informed her that he knows people who can provide him coffee stalls in MNC companies and requested to send people who are interested to do business.

Believing his version, Tara sent clients from whom Srinivasulu collected Rs 10 lakh from each candidate and escaped by changing his mobile number. He also collected money from students promising jobs in US in Indian restaurants. He deposited money into the account of Asha Kiran. He purchased two expensive cars and purchased gold ornaments and costly house hold

articles.
