Woman lecturer set on fire by stalker in Nagpur

In a tragic incident, a young woman lecturer who was set on fire by a stalker last week has died while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Nagpur on Monday.

Going into details, Ankita Pisudde (25), resident of Hinganghat town in Wardha district had sustained 35 to 40 percent burns on February 3 when she was set on fire by Vikesh Nagrale (27) while she was on the way to her college.

Immediately, she was rushed to a private hospital in Nagpur, where she was fighting for life. The treating doctors declared her dead on Monday morning.

The accused Nagrale harassed her in the name of love. He is also married and has a seven-month-old son. Ankita and Nagrale are known to each other for a long time.

For the last two years, Nagrale started to harass her in the name of love and wanted to marry her. With this, she stayed away from him, but he continued to follow her even after marrying another woman. He also threatened to kill her if she doesn't accept his proposal.

On 3rd February, Nagrale stoped Ankita when she was on the way to college and poured petrol on her, set on fire and flew away from the spot. The locals who noticed her immediately rushed to a local hospital.

Over the incident, the police registered a case and arrested the accused within hours. As the health condition deteriorated, Ankita died on Monday. Her family members, college students, have expressed deep shock on hearing the death news.
