Pak SC to define "terrorism"
In a hair-splitting exercise, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has decided to form a seven-member bench to define the word "terrorism/" Going by the media reports it seems that the Pakistan government which is under tremendous international pressure to ban terrorist outfits like Jaish-e-Mohammed in a bid to procrastinate the matter the support of the highest judiciary has been sought.
As it is, in Pakistan a law to deal with terrorism has already been in place. In fact, Section 7 of the existing Anti-Terrorism Act deals with punishment for act of terrorism.
Then, one wonders as to the need for defining the word, "terrorism" afresh. Simply speaking, it is a ploy to delay judicial crackdown on terrorist organisation.
