1,200 new buses to be added to Haryana Roadways' fleet

Chandigarh: In a bid to provide better transportation facilities to people in the state, as many as 1275 new buses will be added to Haryana Roadways' fleet. These include 1000 non-Ac buses, 153 AC buses and 128 minibuses. Besides this, approval was also given for the purchase of 33 buses to be separately purchased for the police department.

A decision in this regard was taken in the meeting of the High Powered Purchase Committee (HPPC) and Department High Powered Purchase Committee (DHPPC) chaired by Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal held here today. During the meeting approval for the purchases of goods and items to be procured by various departments worth more than Rs. 2500 crore were approved.

Transport Minister Sh. Mool Chand Sharma, Power Minister, Sh. Ranjit Chautala, Cooperation Minister, Dr. Banwari Lal, Urban Local Bodies Minister, Sh. Kamal Gupta and Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Sh. Anoop Dhanak also remained present during the meeting. Later addressing the media persons, Sh. Manohar Lal said that a total of 31 agendas of 11 Departments namely Transport, Irrigation, Police, PHED, HVPNL, DHVBN, UHBVN, HPGCL and various Government Departments, Boards and Corporations were tabled in the meeting. Out of which 24 agendas were approved. Most of the agendas were related to Power, Transport, and Irrigation departments, he added.

He further informed that an agenda regarding the use of torrefied biomass pellets in thermal plants was also discussed in the meeting. A decision in this regard will be taken later and the tender will be floated in the coming week.

Additional Chief Secretary, Finance Department, Sh. Anurag Rastogi, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister, Sh. V Umashankar, Chairman, Power Corporations, Sh. P.K Das and the Administrative Secretaries of the concerned departments were present in the meeting.
