6.83 lakh vacant posts to be filled soon: Jitendra
New Delhi: There are about 6.83 lakh vacancies in various central government departments. The Union Ministry of Personnel gave this information in the Lok Sabha. Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh said in a written reply that as of 1 March 2018, out of a total of 3802779 sanctioned posts, 3118956 employees were working and 683823 posts were vacant.
Jitendra Singh said that these posts are vacant due to retirement, resignation, death and promotions etc. of the workers. Soon the Ministry concerned will make appointments on these. He said that recruitment is a continuous process.
Three recruitment agencies UPSC, ASC and RRB have recommended appointment to around 1.34 lakh posts during 2019-20. The maximum number of 116391 recommendations was made by RRB, 13995 SSC and 4399 by UPSC.
Prematurely retired
Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh told in Lok Sabha that 320 corrupt officers were prematurely retired in the last five years by the central government. He said in a written reply that as per the data received from 30 January 2020, action was taken against 163 officers of Group A and 157 officers of Group B from July 2014 to December 2019.
