8 Migrants Killed In MP Accident, 6 Mowed Down By Bus In UP
Guna, MP: Eight migrant workers were killed and more than 40 injured when the truck in which they were travelling collided with a bus in the wee hours of Thursday in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh.
There were about 60 labourers in the bus. They were on their way to Uttar Pradesh from Maharashtra. The injured have been admitted to hospitals, according to news reports.
Six migrant labourers were killed and two injured after being run over by a bus while they were walking towards Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar late Wednesday night. Officials are reported to be engaged in the process of verifying the identity of the migrant workers. They are said to have stated that the accident took place on the Muzaffarnagar-Saharanpur state highway at around 11 pm on Wednesday night.
The victims are said to have been trudging back to their homes in Gopalganj of Bihar from Punjab, where they were employed as labourers.
Reports state that a group of migrant workers walking on the NH-9 highway were mowed down by a bus around 11 pm on Wednesday night. Officials are said to have rushed to the spot and were informed by local villagers that the victims were migrant labourers.
Six of the migrants were declared dead on arrival at the hospital while two others have been referred to a hospital in Meerut.
Officials have said that a case of negligence will be filed against the driver who left the vehicle behind at the accident spot and fled.
