Ancient Idols, Temple Remnants Found During Excavation At Ram Janmabhoomi In Ayodhya

During excavation in Ayodhya on Wednesday, for the levelling work on the construction of a Ram temple at the Ramjanmabhoomi site, remains and parts of idols were discovered. Work of levelling on the sanctum sanctorum began recently after the Yogi Adityanath government permitted construction activity to resume.

During the excavation work on Wednesday at the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi site a 5 foot tall Shiva Ling, six pillars of red sandstone, 7 pillars of black touchstone and broken idols of gods and goddesses are said to have been discovered. Levelling work has been going on for the past 10 days at the Ram Janmabhoomi site after construction was resumed for the building of a grand Ram temple.

The Supreme Court of India gave its final judgement on the Ayodhya dispute in November 2019. The then Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi read out the unanimous judgement on the Ayodhya title suit in November 2019 which referred to the report of Archaeological Survey of India ASI.

The report stated that Babri Masjid was not built on vacant land and that there was evidence of a temple like structure having existed on the land earlier. The ASI had excavated the disputed land in Ayodhya in compliance with orders issued by the Allahabad High Court 15 years before the final verdict by the Supreme Court.
