Army: Positive, Cordial Talks With China On Easing LAC Tensions
The Indian Army on Tuesday described the 11-hour Lieutenant-General talks between India and China on Monday, over the easing the tension on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) as positive and cordial in an official statement, according to media reports.
The Corp Commander level talks between India and China held on Monday were held at Moldo in the Galwan Valley in a "cordial, positive and constructive atmosphere. There was a mutual consensus to disengage. Modalities for disengagement from all friction areas in Eastern Ladakh were discussed and will be taken forward by both the sides," the reports quoting from the Army statement said.
India held its second round of Lieutenant-General level talks with China on Monday to ease the tensions on the LAC. The first round was held on June 6. Lt-Gen. Harinder Singh represented the Indian side on both occasions.
In the June 6 meeting held at the same place, both sides had come to an agreement to begin a process of gradual disengagement from various points in the eyeball to eyeball confrontation India on the border in the Galwan valley. The picture got altered dramatically after the violent attack by Chinese troops on Indian soldiers on June 15 following which there has been a massive deployment of troops including air defence systems on the India-China border.
