Ayodhya Verdict: Archaeological investigation report is the basis of the judgment says CJI

New Delhi: A Supreme Court constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi is going to pronounce its judgment in the Ayodhya Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid title suit today. There are fourteen petitions that were addressed today. The CJI has started reading out the judgment and said that it would take half an hour for him to do so.

CJI has started by saying that those archaeological investigations have been the basis of the judgment. According to the ASI report, there was a temple underneath the structure, for which the evidence was presented. "Hindus believe that Ayodhya is the birth place of Ram. They used to offer their prayers in the lawns outside." read the report.

Sunni Waqf Board says that namaz was offered inside the Babri Masjid when it was erect. Hindus would offer their prayers outside in the lawn courtyard. There was a railing to ensure peaceful prayers would go on, for people belonging to both the faiths.

"The Muslims do not have a rightful claim over the outer courtyard. Sunni Waqf Board hasn't been able to generate evidence of them having rights of the outer courtyard," said CJI.

Section 144 has been imposed all over Mumbai and parts of New Delhi as per the latest reports. The judgment is still underway.
