Bengaluru Police Book Anti-CAA Protester On Sedition Charges For Pro-Pakistan Slogans

The Bengaluru Police booked Amulya Leona,who raised pro-Pakistan slogans at an anti-Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) rally on Thursday.

Shehas been booked on charges of sedition Sec 124A (Offence of sedition) of the Indian Penal Code, and has been remanded to judicial custody.

The City Police has also issued notices to the organisers of the anti-CAA rally where Amulya Leona chanted "Pakistan Zindabad," on stage on Thursday. The police authorities summoned the organisers of the event for questioning. Lok MP from Hyderabad, Asaduddin Owaisi, was also present at the event.

However, Owaisi denied that his party, the AIMIM, had any links with the girl, Amulya Leona. He also said that he disapproved of her pro-Pakistan sloganeering.

The Karnataka cell of the BJP called the college student's behaviour a conspiracy engineered by anti-national forces led by the Congress.

At an anti-CAA rally on Thursday, the girl in question, Amulya Leona, intervened to raise slogans of "Pakistan Zindabad." Policemen and others on the stage prevented her speaking any further and the AIMIM leader, Asaduddin Owaisi, also appeared to stop her from raising pro-Pakistan slogans.

Amulya Leona's father is reported to associated with former prime minister Deve Gowda and son Kumaraswamy Gowda's party, Janata Dal Secular. He is reported to have disapprovedof his daughter's pro-Pakistan sloganeering. Meanwhile, there were reports that he had lodged a complaint against a mob attacking their house against Amulya Leona's provocative slogan
