Bengaluru Techie tested positive for COVID -19, travelled to Hyderabad on bus: Fellow passengers on watch

The man in Telangana who tested positive for the Covid-19 disease, or coronavirus, has been named as a Bengalurian techie of 24 years. The man in Hyderabad tested positive for coronavirus and has now been put in isolation. His is one of two new fresh coronavirus cases reported Tuesday in India. Earlier, three students had tested positive in Kerala; all were discharged after treatment.

The Telangana health minister reported on Monday that a 24-year-old Bengaluru techie has been testing positive for coronavirus in Hyderabad. He had journeyed on a bus to Hyderabad. The government is now tracking down and putting its fellow passengers in the bus under surveillance.

"He originally stayed in Hyderabad's Mahendrahills district, and later was admitted to Apollo Hospital. He was referred to the Gandhi Hospital yesterday evening where Covid-19 found him positive. A separate report from a Pune laboratory later confirmed he was infected with coronavirus," Telangana health minister Etela Rajender said Monday.

The minister also said the government has listed about 80 people who have been in contact with the techie. These include his fellow Apollo Hospital bus passengers, relatives, physicians and staff. They'll all be kept under watch for coronavirus symptoms.

Covid-19 emerged in China for the first time and has since spread to over 65 countries. There have been more than 89,000 cases of the virus worldwide, the majority in China, according to a report by news agency Reuters. As of Monday, the disease has killed over 3,000 people. Caused by a' novel' type of coronavirus, Covid-19 is not yet available for vaccination or treatment.,
