Cabinet increases support price for 14 kharif crops
New Delhi: After gradually opening up the closed economy due to corona lockdown, now the government is trying to get it back on track as soon as possible. Under this, the Cabinet meeting held on Monday, where MSME has been redefined on one side and announced a loan of 10,000 rupees to the street vendors, then special care has also been taken of the farmers.
Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar briefing the Cabinet decisions during press briefings said that the minimum support price for 14 kharif crops has been increased by 50 to 83 percent to provide relief to the farmers. Despite the lockdown, there was a record purchase of rabi crop, he said.
Tomar said farmers will be given more time to repay the loan and now the time has been extended to August. The minimum support price of paddy for the year 2020-21 has now been fixed at Rs 1,868 per quintal. Jowar has been priced at Rs 2,620 per quintal, millet for Rs 2,150 per quintal. Whereas, the minimum support price on ragi, moong, soybean, sesame, cotton and groundnut has been increased by fifty per cent.
Struggling due to coronavirus, the most-affected street vendors of the country's economy will now be given a loan of Rs 10,000 under the PM SVANidhi Scheme. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar revealed at a press conference in New Delhi on Monday. Earlier, in the Central Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the 'Self-reliant India Scheme' was approved.
