Central government's decision amidst farmer movement, sugarcane farmers get big deal

New Delhi: The central government has given a big deal to the sugarcane farmers. The cabinet has decided that farmers will be given an export subsidy of Rs 3500 crore, the export benefit of Rs 18 thousand crore and other subsidy. Union Minister Prakash Javadekar gave information in this regard after holding a press conference.

The Union Minister said that this year the government has decided to export 6 million tonnes of sugar. The subsidy on this will go directly to the account of the farmer. The government will provide Rs 3500 crore as subsidy. He said that with this decision of the government, 5 crore farmers and 5 lakh laborers will get direct benefits.

Javadekar said that the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the revised cost estimate of the North Eastern Region Power System Improvement Project for six states to strengthen the intra-state transmission and distribution system.

Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the Cabinet approved the auction of spectrum in frequency bands of 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz and 2500 MHz for a validity period of 20 years. A total valuation of 2251.25 MHz is being offered with Rs 3,92,332.70 crore.

Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that a notice would be issued this month to invite applications for auction of spectrum and it is proposed to be auctioned by March 2021.
