Centre approves to set up yet another Space station at Thootukudi in Tamil Nadu
Tamil Nadu state is all set to have yet another honour globally as the centre has given the green signal for the establishment of a prestigious second space launch site at Kulasekarapatti in Thoothukudi district in Tamil Nadu after Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh, which is the only center for space exploration.
The Space Launch Center at Sriharikota has two launching pads (1,2). ISRO Scientists, who hope to have two more launch pods in the future, have traveled to several states across the country to explore the ideal land. Kulasekharappatti near Thiruchenduru in Thuthuikudi district was sent to the central government. The center has also approved the construction of 3 and 4 launching pads at Kulasekarapatti. Works have also begun to this extent. Union Minister of Atomic Energy Jitendra Singh confirmed this in a parliamentary session last week.
Kulasekarapatti has many advantages over space experiments. The carrier is supposed to move only to the south when launching from Sriharikota. However, Sri Lanka is in the south. When conducting space exploration, there are regulations that a carrier cannot fly over another country. If the carrier launches fail, there are many precautions to be taken to avoid trespassing on Sri Lanka. Changing the direction is said to increase the distance and would cost high. Sri Lanka and break into four stages to reach the destination, while It is believed that experimenting from Kulasekarapatti does not have such consequences.
Kulasekharappatti is the closest to the equator. Scientists say that the earth at the Sriharikota center is capable of launching a maximum carrier of 1,350 kg, while Kulasekharapatti has the capacity to carry 1,800 kg. The area was chosen for these reasons. For the first time, 2,300 acres of land acquisition work is underway in three villages of Kulasekarappatti range. The authorities of eight departments are carrying out the works of setting up a temporary office at Thiruchenduru. The center is expected to provide direct and indirect employment.
