Children are the worst affected in Delhi's air pollution problem

New Delhi: North Indian states have been reeling under the effects of severe air pollution due to stubble burning and Diwali celebrations. Schools had been shut due to the toxic air and games were cancelled in the school premises till November 5. However, the air quality which is currently under the "Poor" category has been affecting the children of the capital adversely. In latest news, a one year old child has fallen ill right inside the airport after landing from Singapore. Doctors have confirmed that the development in the toddler is because of severe air pollution.

The family of three - Myrah, her mother Kavita Kataria and father Subrat Singh were waiting for their flight to Ahmedabad on November 2 when the toddler fell sick in the airport.

The family was in Delhi for around a week after returning from Singapore. They ensured the child remained indoors where air purifier was installed. While waiting at the boarding gates of Delhi airport, the child's eyes started getting watery and she was breathing heavily, stated her mother.

The next morning, she had woken up with a fever and cough. Doctors confirmed that her poor health could be attributed to the bad air quality in Delhi. An infection was caused due of the pollution. Her nose, eyes, throat and ears were congested. The one year old child has been put on strong antibiotics for seven days.
