New Delhi: The Central Organization for Trade Unions for Workers - CITU has strongly opposed the privatization of Indian Railways, saying that it will be fought against. CITU Secretary-General Tapan Sen said in a statement issued here on Thursday that trade unions have decided to strongly oppose government efforts to privatize the rail network. He said that the government is handing over the wealth of the country to private hands.

He alleged that under the cover of lock-down, the Modi government is fast implementing the agenda of privatization and benefiting the capitalists. The government has yesterday sought letters of request from private companies to run trains on 109 rail routes. He said that the Modi government is carrying out anti-national activities under the guise of privatization.

Sen said that Indian Railways is the pride and wealth of the nation and the Modi government is selling it. He rejected the government's claim of getting Rs 30,000 crore from the railway privatization effort and said that it would suffer much more. Millions of people will become unemployed and rail revenue will decrease. He called upon the railway workers' organization's to strongly oppose the government's move and said that the anti-people policies of the Bharatiya Janata Party government should be thwarted at all costs.

There is no doubt that previous reports of such decision reflect huge job loss after privatization - to which Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is strongly questioning Modi government and opposing.

What is your take on the same - supporting Rahul Gandi or still standing in favour of Modi for privatization in railway?
