Congress attacks Modi over TIME cover feature
CHENNAI: Prime minister Narendra Modi, has been showcased on the cover of TIME magazine and called him as India's "divider in chief", and asked if his government will endure in India for five more years.
On Friday, Congress pounced on the story as the women's wing, attacked PM Modi by pointing out to the opening line -- "Of the great democracies to fall to populism, India was the first." The All India Mahila Congress tweeted to Modi, "Your truth is for all to see."
Regarding the same issue, TIME had published a second story on the prime minister, which was titled, "Modi Is India's Best Hope for Economic Reform."
The cover story, which was reported by Aatish Taseer, says "the world's biggest democracy is more divided than ever" as the broad array of topics mentioned in the piece are comprised of mob lynchings, the appointment of Yogi Adityanath as Uttar Pradesh chief minister in 2017, and the recent decision of BJP to field Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur in Bhopal.
The article is also critical of the the opposition, by calling it a "weak", "ragtag" coalition; it also said that, the Congress has "little to offer than the dynastic principle" and described Rahul Gandhi as "an unteachable mediocrity".
