Corona tax on alcohol in Delhi removed
New Delhi: All brands of liquor in Delhi will now be affordable from Monday. The Kejriwal government here on Sunday withdrew the special corona fee imposed on all liquor brands. The Delhi government on May 5 had imposed a 70 per cent corona cess on the maximum price (MRP) of all brands of liquor. Due to this, the prices of alcohol in the capital had increased.
However, despite the rise in liquor prices in the early times, the shops were getting long lines. However, later people started buying liquor in the usual way. Recently the Delhi government had informed that corona tax imposed on all brands of liquor had earned Rs 161 crore in 24 days. The Delhi government sold alcohol worth Rs 235 crore from May 4 to May 30.
