Coronavirus In India: Record Single-Day Spike Of 7,964 Cases
The COVID-19 pandemic in the country continues to rage through the country with the total number of cases now mounting to 1,73,763 as per the latest data put out by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Over the last 24 hours, the country witnessed a record single-day spike of close to 8,000 cases. The daily surgeon Friday was reported as 7,964 cases. Across the country, 82,370 people have been cured or discharged, while there are 86,422 active cases. The nationwide death count has now reached 4,971.
Maharashtra's COVID-19 tally continues to go up recording high numbers. The state's COVID-19 tally has now reached 62,228. The state recorded 2,682 cases on Friday. Maharashtra's death count stands at 2098.
Tamil Nadu has so far recorded 20,246 confirmed COVID-19 cases with a low fatality rate of 154 deaths.
Delhi has also been recording high numbers COVID-19 with the total count in the national capital reaching 17,386. Delhi has recorded close to 400 deaths so far. The death count in the national capital has climbed to 398.
The soaring numbers in Delhi are related to the high testing levels in the national capital according to some experts. Delhi has 100 containment zones.
The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Gujarat has reached 15,934, with a death count 20 shy of 1000 at 980.
Rajasthan has reported 8365 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and has seen 184 deaths. Madhya Pradesh has reported confirmed COVID-19 cases with a mortality rate of deaths.
