Coronavirus Outbreak: Countrywide Count Close To 82,000
The total number of COVID-19 cases across the country reached 81,970 with 2649 deaths and 27,920 cases of recovered patients who have been cured or discharged. India now stands in the 12th position in terms of the total number of coronavirus patients with about 1000 cases behind China.
China, however, has reported more deaths. The country's total tally is 82,933 with 4,633 deaths compared to India's 81,970 with 2,649 deaths. China on Thursday, reported fewer than 100 cases which means that India is set to overtake China in terms of the total number of cases on Friday.
Maharashtra continues to be the state with the highest number of cases of COVID-19 with the tally standing at 27,524. The state has recorded 1,019 deaths and 6,059 cases of recovered patients.
Tamil Nadu has shot ahead of Gujarat and has recorded 9,674 cases of Coronavirus positive patients so far with a very low fatality rate of 66 deaths. 2,240 patients have recovered in the state and have been cured or discharged so far.
Gujarat has reported 9,591 COVID-19 cases so far with a very high mortality rate of 586 deaths. 3,753 patients have recovered in the Western state.
Delhi has reported the fourth highest numbers of COVID-19 patients in the country with the tally standing at 8,470. The national capital has reported 115 deaths and 3,045 cases of recovered patients. In the fifth place in the list of overall states with high numbers of COVID-19 cases is Rajasthan with 4,534 cases and 125 deaths. 2,580 patients have recovered in the state.
