Coronavirus Update: India COVID-19 Count Crosses 3 Lakh Mark
India, the fourth worst-affected country in the world in the list of nations in the grip of the coronavirus pandemic, has now crossed the 3,00,000 cases mark. The all-India count now stands at 3,08,993 as per the latest update put out on Saturday morning by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
There have been 8,884 deaths across the country. India now has 1,45,799 active cases across the states, while 1,54,329 patients have been cured or discharged.
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Gujarat and Rajasthan are among the states which contribute the most to the overall caseload in the country. Haryana has now overtaken Bihar to get into the 10 worst-affected states on the country.
Maharashtra continues to reel under the coronavirus crisis with its healthcare infrastructure, especially in Mumbai, fully tested. Maharashtra's COVID-19 count has crossed the 1 lakh mark and now stands at 1,01,141with a death count of 3717.
Tamil Nadu is among the worst-hit states with overall COVID-19 tally in the state now jumping to 40,698. Tamil Nadu has recorded 367 fatalities. The state's death tally has become a subject of hot debate after it was discovered that 236 fatalities had not been included in the death count reported so far. The Tamil Nadu government has announced the setting up of a committee to probe the lapse.
Delhi has been badly affected by the coronavirus crisis and the tally of confirmed coronavirus patients in the national capital has now climbed to 36,824. The Delhi death count now stands at 1,214.
Gujarat's COVID-19 tally has now reached 22,527 with the death count climbing to 1,415.
Uttar Pradesh has recorded 12,616 confirmed coronavirus cases and 365 deaths.
Rajasthan has reported 12,068 confirmed coronavirus patients so far with 272 deaths.
Madhya Pradesh has reported 10,443 confirmed COVID-19 cases with the total death count in the state now reaching 440.
West Bengal has crossed the 10,000 mark and has so far reported 10,244 cases of coronavirus with 451 deaths.
Karnataka has reported 6,516 cases of COVID-19 with 79 deaths.
Haryana has overtaken Bihar in the number of COVID-19 cases with the tally in Delhi's neighbouring state reaching 6,334. The death count in the state stands at 70.
