Coronavirus Update: India COVID-19 Count Inching Towards 5 Lakh Mark

The COVID-19 pandemic continues to rage through states across the country with states the All-India tally jumping to 4,90,501 as per the latest update put out on Friday morning by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The countrywide death count has crossed the 15,000 mark and now stands at 15,301 with 1,89,463 active cases, while 2,85,637 patients have been cured or discharged.

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan contribute the most among the states in terms of the viral load in the country.

Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected state with its COVID-19 tally now mounting to 1,47,741 and 6,931 deaths. Maharashtra has recorded 63,357 active cases. On Thursday alone, Maharashtra reported 4,841 cases.

Delhi has gone past Tamil Nadu in the number of confirmed cases recorded and has reported 73,780 cases and 2,429 deaths. Delhi has recorded 26,586 active cases. The national capital has been witnessing a surge in the number of fresh cases reported each day. Delhi recorded 3,328 cases on Thursday.

Tamil Nadu has reported an overall count of 70,977 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 911 deaths. The state has reported 30,067 active cases. Tamil Nadu recorded 3,509 fresh cases on Thursday.

Gujarat has reported 29,520 COVID-19 cases, of which 6,269 are active. It has reported 1,753 deaths.

Uttar Pradesh has gone past the 20,000 mark and has recorded 20,193 confirmed coronavirus cases and 611 deaths. UP has reported 6,463 active cases.

Rajasthan has recorded 16,296 confirmed coronavirus cases so far with 379 deaths. The state has reported 3,077 active cases.

West Bengal has seen a spike in recent days and has so far reported 15,648 cases of coronavirus, with 606 deaths. The state has reported 4,852 active cases.

Madhya Pradesh has recorded 12,596 confirmed COVID-19 cases with the total death count in the state now reaching 542. The state has reported 2,435 active cases.

Haryana which has seen a spike in the number of COVID-19 recent weeks, has reported 12,463 confirmed cases and 198 deaths. The state has reported 4,885 active cases.

Telangana has shot past Andhra Pradesh and finds a place among the top ten worst-affected states for the first time. Telangana has reported 11,364 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 230 deaths. The state has reported 6,446 active cases. Telangana reported 920 fresh cases on Thursday.
