Coronavirus Update: India COVID-19 Count Reaches 4,40,215

The COVID-19 pandemic raging through India has taken the tally of confirmed cases to 4,40,215 as per the latest update put out on Tuesday morning by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The countrywide death count stands at 14,011 with 1,78,014 active cases, while 2,48,190 patients have been cured or discharged.

Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan contribute the most among the states in terms of the viral load in the country.

Maharashtra's COVID-19 tally has now jumped to 1,35,796 and 6,283 deaths .

Tamil Nadu is the worst-hit state in Southern India with an overall count of 62,087 confirmed cases. There have been 794 deaths in the state so far.

Delhi has reported 62,655 confirmed cases and a death count of 2,233. The national capital has 261 containment zones aimed at curbing the spread of COVID-19.

Gujarat, one of the worst-hit states in the country, has reported 27,825 COVID-19 cases and 1,684 deaths.

Uttar Pradesh has been recording high numbers of COVID-19 cases. The state has reported 18,322 confirmed coronavirus cases and 569 deaths.

Rajasthan has crossed the 15,000 mark and has reported 15,232 confirmed coronavirus patients recording so far with 356 deaths.

Madhya Pradesh has recorded 12,078 confirmed COVID-19 cases with the total death count in the state now reaching 521.

West Bengal has so far reported 14,358 cases of coronavirus and 569 deaths.

Haryana's viral load has seen a sudden spike in recent weeks, with Gurugram turning into the state's epicentre. The Haryana tally has now climbed to 11,025 confirmed cases and 169 deaths.

Karnataka has recorded 9,399 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 142 deaths.
