Coronavirus Update: India COVID-19 Tally Crosses 4.25 Lakh Mark
The COVID-19 pandemic continues to sweep through India, the fourth worst-hit country in the world, driving the count past the 4.25 lakh mark. The countrywide tally has now mounted to 4,25,282 as per the latest update put out on Monday morning by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The total number of deaths across the country stands at 13,699. There are 1,74,387 active cases across all states, while 2,37,196 patients have been cured or discharged.
As on Saturday India had tested 68,07,226 samples. 1,90,730 more samples were tested on Sunday, according to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan continue to be the worst-affected states with the highest caseload in the country.
Maharashtra's COVID-19 tally has now reached 1,32,075 with Mumbai accounting for most of the cases in the state. The state's death count stands at 6,170 .
The coronavirus pandemic shows no signs of abating in Tamil Nadu which has reported an overall count of 59,377 cases with 757 deaths so far.
On Sunday alone, Delhi has reported 3,630 new cases and 77 deaths, according to ANI. Its overall tally has now climbed to 56,746 confirmed cases and a death count of 2,175. The national capital has turned 261 areas into containment zones in a bid to check the transmission of coronavirus.
Gujarat, among the worst-hit states, has reported 27,260 COVID-19 cases and 1,663 deaths.
Uttar Pradesh has been recording high numbers of COVID-19 cases. The state has reported 17,731 confirmed coronavirus cases and 550 deaths.
Rajasthan has reported close to 15,000 confirmed coronavirus patients recording 14,930 so far with 349 deaths.
Madhya Pradesh has recorded 11,903 confirmed COVID-19 cases with the total death count in the state now reaching 515.
West Bengal has so far reported nearly 14,000 cases of coronavirus with the total count reaching 13,945 and 555 deaths.
Haryana, over the past few days, has seen a surge in coronavirus cases, with Gurugram turning into the state's epicentre. The Haryana tally has now climbed to 9,852 confirmed cases, with Gurugram alone contributing 4,228. The state has recorded 144 deaths.
Karnataka has reported 9,150 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 137 deaths.
