Coronavirus Update: India COVID-19 Tally Crosses 4.50 Lakh Mark
The COVID-19 pandemic is showing a sharp upward trend across India and has now crossed another disturbing milestone by going past the 4,50,000 mark. With well over 15,000 cases reported on Tuesday, India recorded its highest single-day spike. The tally of confirmed cases has now climbed to 4,56,183 as per the latest update put out on Wednesday morning by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The countrywide death count stands at 14,476 with 1,83,022 active cases, while 2,58,685 patients have been cured or discharged.
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan contribute the most among the states in terms of the viral load in the country. Andhra Pradesh has overtaken Karnataka and has recorded more than 10,000 cases so far.
Maharashtra continues to be the epicentre among states hit by the coronavirus crisis. Maharashtra's COVID-19 tally has now jumped to 1,39,010 and 6,531 deaths. About 60% of the viral load for the state comes from the Maximum City of Mumbai.
Tamil Nadu is reeling under the onslaught of COVID-19 with an overall count of confirmed 64,603 cases. There have been 833 deaths in the state so far.
Delhi, one of the worst-hit areas in the country, has been witnessing a steep rise for a long time. Over the last 24 hours, the national capital reported 3,947 confirmed cases and 68 deaths. The Delhi tally now has mounted to 66,602 with 2,301 deaths.
Gujarat has reported 28,371 deaths COVID-19 cases and 1,710 deaths.
Uttar Pradesh has been recording high numbers of COVID-19 cases. The state has reported 18,893 confirmed coronavirus cases and 588 deaths.
Rajasthan has recorded 15,627 confirmed coronavirus cases so far with 365 deaths.
Madhya Pradesh has recorded 12,261 confirmed COVID-19 cases with the total death count in the state now reaching 525.
West Bengal has so far reported 14,728 cases of coronavirus, with 370 of them being recorded on Tuesday. The state has reported 580 deaths.
Haryana has seen a sharp surge in recent weeks, with Gurugram turning into the state's epicentre. Gurugram and Faridabad, the two major urban centres in the state contribute about 65% of the total viral load. The Haryana tally has now climbed to 11,520 confirmed cases and 178 deaths.
Andhra Pradesh has surged past Karnataka recording 10,002 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 119 deaths.
