Court approves 4-day custody of Chidambaram till Aug 26
New Delhi: The Court has approved for 4-day custody of Chidambaram. The medical examination will be conducted every 48 hours and the family is permitted to visit him once a day.
The CBI earlier asked the Delhi Court for 5-day custody of former Finance Minister Chidambaram, so as to get to the bottom of the INX media case. By the time Chidambaram reached the Court, Chidambaram's son Karti Chidambaram and wife Nalini Chidambaram were there at the Court, along with the lawyer.
Chidambaram has been taken into CBI custody on Wednesday night and was kept in the CBI guesthouse. He was questioned for about 3 hours by the CBI sleuths and was later produced before the Court. Earlier, the Court has rejected his pre-arrest bail, indicating the enormity of the case. Chidambaram asked to allow him to speak in the Court, which was accepted.
The CBI has alleged that Chidambaram has not been cooperating with the interrogation. However, the former finance minister has said that he was not evasive and that he answered all the questions posed to him. Chidambaram said that he told CBI that he doesn't have any foreign account.
